Lunch for cheap - the formule midi

Eating out in Paris can be expensive, but day after day of cheese and bread can get tiresome, so if you're in the mood to splurge, look no further than your local bakery at lunchtime. The French understand the importance of a hearty lunch, but eating out day after day can add up (especially when you consider that a sandwich alone will be 3-5 euros, a drink 1.5, and a dessert anywhere from 1-4 euros). That is why they have invented the formule midi.

The Brooklyn Bridge and Grimaldi's

Walking over the Brooklyn Bridge is just one of those things that everyone does-- or intends to do-- at least once. It's beautiful, historic, provides sweeping views of Brooklyn and Manhattan, and was built to provide bikers and pedestrians a place for recreation. There is a bike path and walk way above the traffic complete with street lamps and benches where you can stop and take a breather or people watch for awhile.

But, damn, it can seem like a long walk. What keeps you going?

Midnight snacks in Mumbai

It's 2 am in Mumbai, and you're starving. Most restaurants will long since have shut their doors, leaving you with two options - an overpriced hotel coffee shop, or the delicious street food offerings of South Bombay. Institutions in their own right and beloved by those who have eaten their satisfying offerings, Bade Miya's and Ayub's are two of the best-known street food vendors in Mumbai. If you want local color and local tastes, look no further.
