The building is very modern and you either love or loathe it. There are guided tours available on some days which cost around £5 and give fuller access and detailed commentary by a professional guide,

Prices start at £7 for lunch. It's close to the main rail station Waverly and just across from the St James shopping centre.
Museum of Childhood - interesting even if you've no kids

The Water of Leith Walkway - a green oasis in the city
