The Brunetti chain of cafes in Melbourne are famous for delicious cake that comes not only with a huge variety but also a very reasonable price. There are now three branches of Brunetti but locals agree that the one in Carlton (194-204 Faraday Street) is the best one.

The Carlton Brunetti has a large street front and several different seating areas inside, and along with slices of their famous cakes they also offer mini versions so you can try several in one sitting. Or you can just drop in to pick up a whole cake for a birthday celebration or any cake-worthy occasion. My big tip is to try whatever mousse cake they have on offer - the pistachio one was fantastic last time I was there.
