The Stokehouse is one of Melbourne's iconic restaurants. Positioned right on the beach in St.Kilda, this restaurant offers customers 2 styles of dining. Upstairs is a very elegant setting with a more expensive menu - entree's at approx. $27AUD. With uninterrupted views of the water, it is a superb place to take someone special for dinner or to impress a client for lunch.

If you are up for something more casual, downstairs is where you can get a very good meal. The menu has something for everyone, including pizza, pasta, chicken, fish and vegetarian dishes. Mains are around $25AUD with pizzas and pastas under the $20AUD mark. The atmosphere is buzzing and even though I have only been here a few times, I get the feeling many locals call this place home. There are many tables to dine at inside, and with the floor to ceiling glass windows, you can still enjoy the sea views. It is an all seasons restaurant, with a large fireplace keeping customers cozy in winter and an outdoor eating area to dine at on a sunny day.

After your meal, take a stroll along the pathway which runs all the way along the beach and enjoy an ice-cream from one of the mobile ice-cream vans which frequent the area.

As with all Melbourne restaurants, there is no smoking inside, which makes it a more pleasant experience for everyone.
