The Museum of London hosts regularly changing free exhibitions in the foyer area. As an urban history museum they are often closely related to the cultural fabric of the city. One that is definitely worth checking out is the current "Big Smoke" - charting the history of smoking from the first introduction of tobacco to London to changes in attitude over the centuries. One year on, the display will also showcase different opinions on the smoking ban and show its effects on London businesses and Londoners.
The Museumplein (pronounced 'mu-ZAY-um-pline') is one of the center's of Dutch art in Amsterdam offering everything from classic Vermeers and Rembrandts to impressionist, sun-drenched, Van Gogh tableaus from Provence. Spending a day on the Museumplein is a rare treat, especially in the sunshine of summer.
Don't think that the Museum of Childhood is only for kids, It's really interesting to see the exhibits. There's an amazing collection of dolls and teddy bears and it's free to enter.
Paris. It's one of my favorite places on earth, and a great city in which to walk in, since everything is so compact, and the 5ème, home to the Quartier Latin (Latin Quarter), is one of its most famous. I've chosen to write about the 5ème in detail because it was my quartier during my time abroad in Paris, and it's packed with hidden delights. So, without further ado, let's begin this multi-part tour of the 5ème.
